What to expect when you visit our practice

The Consultation

The approach to examination and treatment is animal centred, ensuring your pet has a positive experience and is as relaxed as possible. Each animal normally receives a thorough evaluation including a gait assessment and examination appropriate to your pet’s presentation.

Treatment utilises gentle, manual techniques, sometimes supported with electrophysical and movement therapies.

Working in partnership with vets and owners

In accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act of 1966 and to ensure the best care of any animal, osteopaths and physiotherapists work in conjunction with the animals’ veterinary surgeon. Veterinary consent is obtained prior to the initial consultation. The veterinary referral will normally include the relevant clinical history, providing valuable information to help assess your animal. Any investigatory work is normally undertaken by the referring vet prior to starting treatment.

We involve you, the owner, by offering aftercare guidance to help aid the recovery of your animal in the home or working environment.

What our patients say about us

"I have used Sharon for 3 of my dogs over several years. I was always very happy with her work and how much they helped the dogs, but when I brought her my last dog who was terrified of any vets, and had a very bad experience with a chiropractor, I was amazed how well my little dog Floozie relaxed with her! She did a fantastic job of getting to know Floozie and taking the time to make her comfortable, so comfortable in fact that Floozie sometimes falls asleep during treatment. I highly recommend her!"

Nicola, St Albans

"We have a tri-paw English Setter and an elderly Gordon Setter, both rescues. Both need the therapeutic benefits of osteopathy and both thoroughly enjoy it with Sharon"

Karen Brine, Cambridgeshire

"WONDERFUL! I can’t recommend Sharon highly enough…. Having had two elderly paraplegic dogs, finding Sharon has been a godsend. I can’t put into words the difference she has made to their quality of life and I have no doubt in my mind that her treatment extended and continues to extend the precious time we’ve had with them. We would be lost without her."

Michelle, Hemel Hempstead

"A lovely lady called Sharon Winkler is working on our old boy... (Osteopathy) is certainly working for our gorgeous George and hopefully we will have a few more wonderful years with him."

Carol, Welwyn

Our work on George was featured in Your Cat magazine. Click here to read the full article.
